Charge Your EV at Whitefish City Hall and We’ll Pick Up the Tab

FEC's Chevy Bolt was the first electric vehicle to plug into the new EV chargers in the downtown Whitefish parking garage.

With installation of four new charging stations for electric vehicles, the City of Whitefish is marching forward with implementation of its new Climate Action Plan.  Flathead Electric Cooperative donated the charging stations, the City provided spots in the new parking garage along with the wiring, and Climate Smart Glacier Country will pay for the electicity.

“We want to provide incentives and a small reward for those early adopters who make the switch to electric vehicles,” said Steve Thompson, founding chairman of Climate Smart Glacier Country. “People are reluctant to invest in an EV if there isn’t adequate infrastructure in place to charge the batteries. We’re pleased to partner with the City and FEC to spark a local solution that will help stabilize the climate.”

The four charging stations are located in the leased parking area of the garage adjacent to City Hall. Two are in the uncovered leased parking area and two are in the covered area. During business hours, these are available only to leased parking permit holders. After 5 p.m. they are available to the general public.

Climate Smart Glacier Country is an all-volunteer organization that promotes local climate solutions and sponsors community conversations. All of our expenses, such as providing free electricity for EV drivers, are supported with your donations. Please consider making a donation to support our efforts.
