Welcome to the new virtual home of Climate Smart Glacier Country!
We started informally in May 2016 as a public-private partnership focused on finding and supporting local solutions to the challenges posed by a changing climate. Dozens of people have volunteered to help out. We’ve held several public events attended by hundreds of local citizens who want to be part of the solution. We created a 7-member steering committee and five working groups.
Since then we have incorporated as a Montana non-profit corporation. The steering committee has become a Board of Directors. We have received tax-exempt 501(c)3 status from the IRS, which means you can make tax-deductible donations. (Please do!) And now we’re proud to launch our beautiful website, developed and designed by Ken Deeds at Good Deeds Gardens. (Thanks Ken!)
Glacier National Park is known globally as a “poster child” for climate change due to its rapidly melting mountain glaciers and the dramatic increase in the extent of natural wildfires over the past 30 years. This partnership reflects the commitment of Glacier National Park and local businesses, schools and communities to create a model of regional cooperation to tackle the challenges and opportunities posed by a changing climate.
